Identity & Motivation
Engineer, builder, and puzzle-solver
I am an electrical engineer who loves turning puzzles into reliable systems - whether that is firmware, full-stack software, or hardware you can hold. I am fascinated by the way technology quietly improves daily life, and I gravitate toward automation that that removes rote work, getting software out of a user's way as much as possible.
My background includes a B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie and nearly two years as a Technical Project Manager at a digital marketing startup, where I learned to own outcomes, translate between technical and non-technical teams, and keep clients informed without the sales spin. I thrive when quality is valued over haste and when I have room to explore and become deply familiar with a system or tool.
Embedded and hardware
Arduino and Raspberry Pi builds, sensor integrations, joystick and servo control, audio playback tricks on constrained MCUs, and hands-on debugging/soldering for everyday electronics.
Software and automation
Python, Next.js, SwiftUI, and CloudKit; automation bots using Selenium, image recognition, or coordinate mapping; API and webhook design, AWS Lambda glue code, and PDF generation pipelines.
Systems and networking
Comfortable with real-time systems, CAD and circuit simulation, and small-network infrastructure (home servers, Pi-hole DNS filtering, secure routing).
Values
What guides my work
Integrity first
Transparent about trade-offs, never oversells, and documents decisions so clients know exactly what was built.
Service with autonomy
Takes ownership, prefers clear goals over micromanagement, and builds maintainable systems that keep people independent.
Craft and curiosity
Loves puzzles, favors quality over haste, and learns quickly when there is room to explore and refine.
People-centered
Energized by collaborative problem-solving, attentive to how others feel, and aims to leave clients relieved and confident.
How I work
Partnering with me
- Clear objectives and context come first; then I chart the path to the solution.
- Autonomy plus accountability - regular updates, thorough notes, you're always in the loop.
- Quality-focused: I prefer elegant, reliable fixes to quick patches that resurface later in the form of technical debt.
- Responsive and honest: expectations stay aligned, and my clients get all of my documentation so they are fully empowered to maintain their solution after the contract ends.
Looking ahead
I am eager to work on robotics, renewable energy, and embedded or automation-heavy projects where thoughtful engineering supports real-world impact. If your organization could use someone with my background and enthusiasm, please get in touch!
